The rural house Sitges is located in the villageof Viver that belongsto the municipality of Viver i Serrateix (Berguedŕ).
The place already was inhabited in epoch iberoromana as indicate the ceramics found to the surroundings of the house. Des of the Middle Ages, the house belonged to the master of Viver's castle and to the parish of Viver's Sant Miquel.
Along his history, it has had two names, that of the Portella and the current one of them Sitges.
The most ancient documentary byline is that of 1187, when we think the first inhabitant known about the house, that he was called Francesc Guárida of the Portella. The name of the Portella reflects the situation of the house, which one finds in a site of step between the Vall de Merola and the Pla de Viver.
1554 the Joana, "pubilla" of the house, Antoni Sitges married the "pubill". It did that after the time the surname Sitges was happening to turn into the name of the house.
In 1638 Ramon Sitges, grandson of Antoni, was paying 16 salaries and 8 to the master of Viver coins of census and the "delme" of the meat, the cheese, the wool, the vegetables and the crop. He was giving the novelty to the rector of everything what was producing in the house.
Near the house, there exist 5 tubs, which are a good testimony of the wine past of the house.
